GNK is held and transferred on the Gonka network. wGNK is its wrapped version on Ethereum. Before receiving tokens, check which version the sender will send. It determines the network and wallet address you need.
The bridge locks GNK on Gonka and issues wGNK on Ethereum. In the reverse direction, it burns wGNK and releases the corresponding amount of GNK on Gonka. The official documentation covers both Gonka → Ethereum and Ethereum → Gonka.
Which wallet do you need?
Native GNK requires a wallet that supports the Gonka network. The official transfer guide includes instructions for Keplr and lists Tangem support. A Gonka receiving address starts with gonka1. Our wallet directory lists other options.
For wGNK, use a wallet that supports Ethereum mainnet and ERC-20 tokens. The receiving address starts with 0x. If the token does not appear, you can add it using its contract address. Adding a token to the wallet interface does not transfer anything between networks.
An ordinary wGNK transfer from your Ethereum wallet requires ETH for the transaction fee. Your wGNK balance does not cover that fee: Ethereum transaction fees are paid in ETH.
Does GNK have a contract address?
Native GNK has no ERC-20 contract address; its balance is recorded on Gonka. wGNK on Ethereum does have one:
0x972a7a92d92796a98801a8818bcf91f1648f2f68
This address appears in the Gonka bridge documentation. Check the network and the full contract address when looking up the token. A name and logo are not enough, as another token can use the same ones.
Use the contract address to verify or add wGNK. To receive an ordinary transfer, give the sender your own wallet address, not the contract address.
Moving tokens between networks
Moving between Gonka and Ethereum requires the bridge. Using the same seed phrase in Keplr and MetaMask does not guarantee matching accounts: the wallets can derive different keys. If the interface shows Address mismatch, confirm access to the receiving account before sending anything, including a test amount.
See Bridging between Gonka and Ethereum for transfer directions, account checks and links to the interfaces.
Before buying or transferring
Ask the platform or sender what you will receive: GNK on Gonka or wGNK on Ethereum. Open the corresponding network in your wallet and copy its receiving address. The address prefix can help you spot a mistake, but it does not prove that a platform supports the required network.
If you are using the bridge for the first time, start with a small amount and wait for it to arrive, as the Gonka documentation recommends. See Buy GNK for available purchase methods.
